Allocations Policy - Homlessness Reduction Act

Decision Maker: Leader of the Council

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decision:

Agreed for the Royal Borough of Greenwich Allocations Scheme Policy to be revised to state that the homelessness duty to households already with a reasonable preference on the Housing Register who do not accept a reasonable offer of social housing under Part 6 of the Housing Act 1985 made under s189 B (2) of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 (or private sector property) will end. In these circumstances the Authority will also no longer have any further housing duty, including to provide temporary accommodation.

Agreed for the Royal Borough of Greenwich Allocations Scheme Policy to be revised to state that households that are owed a Prevention or Relief duty by the Royal Borough of Greenwich under the provisions of the Act will not be disadvantaged and will have a Reasonable Preference that will exist until the duty is discharged.

Agreed to authorise the Director of Housing and Safer Communities, in consultation with the Cabinet Member, to make such amendments to the Royal Borough of Greenwich Allocations Scheme as appropriate in light of changes to legislation, case law or Guidance.
