Woolwich Creative District architect appointment

The Leader, in consultation with the Lead Member, is requested to approve the award of a contract for the Woolwich Creative District architect-led design team to the most economically advantageous tender submitted by Bennetts Associates at a cost of £3,265,000 (Three million, two hundred and sixty-five thousand pounds).

To note that in line with CSO 23 and the Scheme of Delegation this is a Leader decision in consultation with the Lead Member due to the tender being more than 10% greater than the lowest price.

To note the Cabinet report, approved on 23rd March 2017, sets out details of the project.

To note that separate reports will be brought forward in respect of any lettings to the buildings.

This decision will be taken under urgency procedures.

Reason for urgency:
It has been agreed that Buildings 17 and 19 would be developed from a shell and core perspective to enable an anchor tenant to open a 2-year place-making show in early 2019 (as per paragraph 5.1). They need to access these buildings to commence their fit out works by the end of 2018.

In order to meet this schedule, a delivery timeline needs to be met. This timeline dictates that the architect-led design team need to be appointed before the end of July.
